At GE Medical Systems Information Technologies, we will do just about anything for our customers to ensure the software that they receive from us works as we have stated. When customers require custom software we work to help define and develop specifications then we test, test, and test some more. Then we hand it over to Quality Assurance... and they love to break things in QA!

All GE Medical Systems Information Technologies software released to clients undergoes an extensive quality assurance process. Testing of standard application programs, interfaces and custom software are executed on the customers test library at GE to ensure the finished product meets the defined requirement of our customers. Before any program or interface is released to the QA group, it will have undergone stringent testing within the research and development group to verify it conforms to the written and agreed upon specification.

Our QA department is staffed by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with a combined total of over 100 years of pharmacy experience. So once the project reaches QA, the project is assigned to a QA specialist where the functionality is evaluated for practical use in pharmacy environment. Then testing starts again…

GE houses our customer's unique Centricity Pharmacy application on servers within GE's support infrastructure. Using relevant data the program is executed within the customer's program environment. This way GE not only ensures that the program can pass tests that include sample data scenarios but that the program is operating and interacting properly with existing programs and modules currently in use at the customer's site.

And then they test again…

Once the first Quality Assurance specialist is satisfied that all is well, a second check is performed by a different Quality Assurance team member. If documentation has been created for the program it is reviewed for consistency and accuracy.

With the program and associated documentation now ready to be released to the customer… the first thing the customer does is to test in their test environment using their database. Once the customer is satisfied the programs are moved to the live, in-production system.
